Young Indian author Ayush Mohan Mishra, known for his work in spirituality and philosophy, has been honoured with an Honorary Doctorate Award at a ceremony held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on June 7, 2026.
The honour was conferred by the World Culture & Education Organisation, described as an organisation associated with NITI Aayog, Government of India. Mishra’s selection marks a significant milestone in his literary journey and adds another distinction to his growing list of achievements.
According to the selection details, 23 individuals from across India were chosen for the honour, with Mishra being the only selected recipient from Uttar Pradesh. With this recognition, he has also become the first person from Lakhimpur Kheri district to receive an Honorary Doctorate Award. He is also among the five people from Uttar Pradesh to have received this distinction.
Mishra’s latest achievement comes after an unconventional journey in the Indian publishing industry. He began his literary career at the age of 21 with his debut book, “The Secret of Your Spiritual Power.” At the beginning of his career, several publishing houses rejected the manuscript, making it difficult for the young author to find a traditional route to publication.
Instead of giving up, Mishra decided to create his own opportunity. With limited financial resources, he took an online loan and launched his own publishing venture to publish the book independently. His decision eventually proved successful as the book went on to become an Amazon bestseller.
The book later expanded its readership beyond its original audience and was translated into seven Indian languages. According to the author, more than 100,000 copies have been sold worldwide, establishing the book as a significant milestone in his early career.
Mishra continued his literary journey with his second book, “Philosophy of Kaliyuga,” which was released in December 2025. The book explores the philosophical concept of Kaliyuga through the teachings associated with Lord Krishna and examines how human beings can become the cause of their own downfall through their actions, choices and moral decline.
The second book received a strong response soon after its launch. More than 500 copies were sold within the first 48 hours, and the book went on to achieve national bestseller status. Its sales have since crossed 6,000 copies, according to the author.
Mishra’s journey from facing rejection as a young writer to receiving an Honorary Doctorate has attracted attention because of the unconventional path he followed. Without initial support from major publishing houses, he relied on his own initiative and financial risk to bring his ideas to readers.
The Honorary Doctorate presented in New Delhi represents a new chapter in his career. For Lakhimpur Kheri, the recognition carries particular significance as Mishra becomes the first person from the district to receive an Honorary Doctorate, while his selection as the sole recipient from Uttar Pradesh among the 23 selected individuals adds further distinction to the achievement.
From a 21-year-old writer whose manuscript was repeatedly rejected to a bestselling author whose books have reached readers across languages and countries, Ayush Mohan Mishra’s story reflects a journey built on persistence, self-belief and an independent approach to publishing.
The latest honour at Bharat Mandapam marks another milestone in that journey and places Mishra among the emerging young voices in India’s contemporary spiritual and philosophical literature.
