Some brands are born in boardrooms. MAA was born in a home, during the hardest months of a mother’s life.
In 2024, Dr. Darshana Garg was expecting her first child. Like many mothers, she struggled through her first and second trimester. She could not keep down any food. Every meal felt like a battle. But her body still needed nutrition, and so did the baby growing inside her. Her husband, Dr. Shankar Sharma, began researching what she could safely eat. Together, they looked closely at dry fruits. They studied which ones were gentle on the stomach and rich in the nutrients a developing baby needs. Slowly, a simple mix took shape in their own kitchen.
That mix became MAA. The name is short for Makhana, Almond and Akhrot. These three ingredients form the heart of the brand. The name also carries a second meaning, one that needs no explanation in India. MAA means mother. It is a fitting name for a brand that began with one mother’s struggle and now serves thousands like her.
Dr. Darshana gave birth to her baby girl in 2025. She was working a job at the time. But the urge to stay close to her daughter pushed her to build something of her own. She had lived the problem. She knew exactly how it felt. And she did not want any other mother to go through the same thing.
MAA was officially established in June 2026. It belongs to the health and nutrition sector. The brand makes ready to eat dry fruit powder mixes.
The idea sounds small, but the problem it solves is real. Making dry fruit powder at home is not easy. You have to wash the dry fruits. Then dry them properly. Then roast them. Then blend them into a fine powder. It takes hours. In today’s hectic world, most people simply do not have that kind of time. New mothers have even less of it. So the work gets skipped, and nutrition takes a back seat.
MAA removes that entire process. The powder arrives ready to use. You mix two spoons with any food of your choice. That is all. It can go into milk, into porridge, into rotis, into whatever suits the day. There is no cooking or preparation needed.
What makes the brand different is the thinking behind the composition. MAA does not sell one product for everybody. The blend changes depending on who is eating it. Pregnant mothers get one composition. Mothers in post partum recovery get another. Children have their own version, and adults have theirs. Each mix is built around what that stage of life actually needs. This point of difference comes from lived experience, not from a marketing plan.
The founders are also careful about what does not go into the product. There is no added sugar. There are no preservatives of any kind. It is simply dry fruits, cleaned, roasted and blended, and nothing else.
The brand is equally careful about the promises it makes. Dr. Darshana is clear on this point. MAA does not claim to make children taller, stronger or smarter. It does not sell miracles. What it offers is a healthier choice, made easier. That honesty has become part of the brand’s identity.
The response so far has been quite encouraging. Since launching in June 2026, MAA has sold around one hundred units. The numbers are still small, but the feedback tells a much bigger story. Pregnant mothers use it through their term. Post partum mothers use it during recovery. Children take it with their meals. Grandparents have written in specially to say they feel stronger since they started.
For a brand that is only a few months old, that spread of customers says something important. A product built for one specific need has found a place across an entire family.
The journey ahead is still long. But the direction is clear. Dr. Darshana Garg and Dr. Shankar Sharma are building MAA around one belief, which is that good nutrition should not demand hours of work from people who have none to spare.
It started with one mother who could not eat. Today it is helping many other families eat better.
