From the heart of Karnataka, a distinctive creative force has steadily been shaping the visual language of Indian cinema. HK Designs, a Bengaluru-based cinematic publicity studio founded and independently operated by Hemanth Kumar, has emerged as a recognised name across the Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi film industries, reflecting South Indian creative sensibilities on a growing pan-Indian platform.

In an industry where large teams and expansive agencies often dominate, HK Designs has drawn attention for a different reason — its consistent delivery of concept-driven, visually striking publicity designs crafted through a singular creative vision. Film industry observers note that the studio’s strength lies in its ability to translate cinematic emotion into compelling visual narratives, maintaining originality while aligning with the soul of each film.

Over the years, HK Designs has contributed to publicity campaigns for several notable films, including Baanadariyalli, Kabzaa, Upendra (re-release), Manada Kadalu, Gabbar Singh (re-release), Thammudu, Athadu (re-release), #Single, and Little Hearts. Each project reflects a design approach rooted in storytelling rather than spectacle, a quality that has earned the studio credibility among filmmakers and audiences alike.

Despite operating without a formal in-house team, HK Designs has built a strong reputation through consistency and clarity of thought. Industry professionals point out that Hemanth Kumar’s complete involvement — from conceptualisation to final execution — has helped preserve a distinct visual identity across diverse projects. This hands-on approach has become a defining characteristic of the studio’s work.

A defining chapter in HK Designs’ creative journey is Hemanth Kumar’s continued conceptual artwork dedicated to Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar. These designs, created as visual tributes over several years, have been widely recognised as emotionally resonant and symbolically rich. They go beyond admiration, reflecting a deep understanding of Puneeth Rajkumar’s cultural influence and cinematic legacy.

The legacy of these tribute works has been symbolically carried forward by Raghavendra Rajkumar, adding further emotional depth and continuity. The series has received widespread appreciation and has been featured in leading publications such as Bangalore Times and Udayavani, where the works were noted for their sincerity, craftsmanship, and cultural relevance.

In 2022, Roopatara magazine featured Hemanth Kumar as “a new talent with a different vibe,” acknowledging his distinctive approach to cinematic publicity design. The feature highlighted his ability to blend modern visual language with rooted storytelling — a balance that continues to define HK Designs’ creative identity.

This growing recognition culminated in 2025 when Hemanth Kumar received the Achiever of Karnataka honour at Chitra Santhe. The award recognised his contribution as a Kannadiga who has extended Karnataka’s creative presence into Telugu and Mumbai-based cinema while remaining firmly rooted in Bengaluru. Cultural commentators viewed the recognition as a reflection of Karnataka’s expanding influence in India’s creative industries.

Adding to this trajectory, HK Designs has now been nominated for the Karnataka Awards 2026 by the National Excellence Council. The studio has been selected under the category “Karnataka Excellence Award for Creative Visual Design & Brand Identity – Inspiring Imagination Through Artful Expression.” The nomination, which the studio is set to receive later this year, further reinforces the growing national acknowledgement of HK Designs’ creative contribution and its impact on cinematic branding.

Expanding beyond South India, HK Designs has recently contributed to Hindi film projects such as Sarojini, a biopic on Sarojini Naidu, and September 21. These projects mark the studio’s increasing engagement with the Mumbai film industry and underline its evolution into a pan-Indian creative presence. Industry insiders observe that this expansion has come without compromising the studio’s conceptual integrity or creative ethos.

Beyond film publicity, Hemanth Kumar has also built a strong digital presence through a YouTube channel featuring creatively reimagined trailers of classic films starring Dr. Rajkumar. Several of these reinterpretations have gone viral, earning appreciation for their respectful yet contemporary presentation of cinematic heritage. Media analysts see this as a reflection of his sustained engagement with film history and visual storytelling.

Rooted in Karnataka and steadily expanding across India, HK Designs continues to strengthen its presence as an independent creative studio with a national footprint. With growing recognition from the film industry, cultural platforms, and award bodies, HK Designs stands as an example of how concept-led creativity from Bengaluru can resonate far beyond regional boundaries — staying true to its guiding belief: “Cinema then, now and forever.”
